5 Steps for Zen Charm in Your Small Bath

The grind can be soo taxing on our minds, bodies, and spirits. The cold weather can be especially taxing on those of us who live in metropolitan areas like Chicago. So many of us just want to come home, take a shower, and meditate. Often times big cities mean small spaces and coming home to rusty, stark, bathroom for a hot shower is the last thing you need. I'm a strong believer that your interior should be a place that speaks to your soul as well as provide you with the inspiration, productivity, and relaxation needed to keep you smiling. Below are my five simple steps for you to achieve a more relaxing lavatory without wishing you'd move to California already. ;-)

1. Drench your bathroom in a relaxing neutral wall color. Trust me. A fresh paint color can immediately change your entire idea of a stressful small space without being too dramatic or distracting. Rich neutrals such as the Sage above, Khaki, Cinnamon, or Cream envelop small bathrooms with an organic charm. I prefer colors with warm hues to avoid that freezing hospital pastel feeling lmbo.

2. Pick up some bamboo, it's good luck and it's soo spa! Bamboo decor is so easy to find and the natural colors bring in warmth and texture to any space. The shelves above were perfect for displaying decor, along with storing soaps, salts, and candles neatly. Nothing says spa like bamboo!

3. Decorate with small plants, tropical, or organic decor. Plants provide you with fresh air and more of that organic relaxing charm you won't get enough of. If you don't have a green thumb, opt for a realistic image or decorative print like the one above. The fabric print above proved to be the perfect textured accent without hanging too many towels or decor fabrics. The fabric canvas also had a bit of shimmer, accenting the surrounding neutral palette even more.

4. Stock up on a few new plush towels. You deserve it! Nothing like a fresh thick towel to wrap up in after a long bath or a hot shower. These warm neutral hand towels effortlessly warm up the space and bring more comfort into your interior.

5. Finish your private zen spa with the perfect scented candle. Candles are essential for achieving the feel of comfort in a small space. The candles above gave  a touch of soft flickered lighting, aromatherapy, and charm. Xo pB
